Apple’s highly anticipated launch event has taken place and a series of Apple products have now emerged. Among these are new iPhone models, iPad variants as well as the latest iteration of Apple Watch. Most of them are already on sale and will start shipping to Apple’s international markets by next week.
A detailed look at the updated Apple portfolio reveals four new iPhone models. These include the iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max. Likewise, two new iPad models have been released: the new generation iPad and the iPad mini. Apple also showcased the all-new Apple Watch Series 7 at its streaming event in California.
Here’s a look at all of the new Apple products and what they offer.
IPhone 13 is here
Apple launched the iPhone 13 with a slew of upgrades and new features during its streaming event in California. The new-age iPhone comes with a faster processor, better cameras and yes, longer battery life than before. Upgrades to its Pro models over the last generation also include a 120Hz ProMotion display and a new 1TB storage option.
For design, the new iPhone 13 series doesn’t look too different from last year’s iPhone 12 models. The notch on the front has been reduced, while the camera module on the back now has a different layout for the lenses of non-Pro models. The display sizes of the four variants also remain the same. This design, however, might be where the similarity ends.
Indeed, Apple has equipped the new iPhone 13 series with the A15 Bionic chipset, promising faster CPU and GPU performance than previous iterations of the iPhone as well as other competitors in the market. It also increased the storage in the base model, as this time there is no 64 GB variant for any of the iPhone 13 models. The Pro models do, however, have a 1 TB storage option, for the very first time.
iPhone 13 Pro
Camera upgrades include Sensor Shift Image Stabilization on the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini for the first time. The technology was limited to the iPhone 12 Pro Max in last year’s series. Pro models benefit from an overall camera improvement with an all new Macro mode. All four options of the iPhone 13 benefit from cinematic mode for video recording.
Apple also solved the biggest problem for iPhone users with the iPhone 13. It increased the battery of all four models to make them outlast their iPhone 12 counterparts.
The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini will be available in five color options and three storage options starting at Rs 69,900. You can read all about them here. The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, meanwhile, will be available in four color options and four storage options starting at Rs 1,19,900, which you can check out here.
The all new iPads
Apple also showcased the next-generation iPad and iPad mini at its launch event. Apple claims the new iPads are faster than ever and outperform any competition in the market in their class.
For this, the iPad has been upgraded to an A13 chipset by Apple, while the new iPad mini now has an A15 Bionic chip. Both devices will ship with the all-new iPadOS 15.
IPads have new and improved screens and cameras. The latter involves an ultra-wide 12-megapixel sensor on the front on both devices for better video calling experiences. Apple also introduced Center Stage on both iPads for the same, a video calling feature borrowed from the iPad Pro.
Both new iPads support the first generation Apple Pencil and accessories such as Apple’s Smart Keyboard. They will be delivered in Wi-Fi only and Wi-Fi + Cellular models. The iPad will be available in two colors while the iPad mini will be sold in four finishes. Starting prices for both are Rs 30,900 and Rs 46,900 respectively. Apple Watch Series 7
Apple Watch Series 7
The only Apple product that won’t be available immediately, the new Apple Watch features a familiar design with a host of performance improvements over its predecessor. These include an ever larger Retina display as well as a larger form factor. The 41mm and 45mm sizes will be the largest in the Apple Watch series to date.
Apple claims the Watch Series 7 offers almost 20% more screen space due to thinner bezels than the previous Apple Watch. The border itself is 40% smaller than before. Contrary to popular speculation, Apple Watch sports a round design similar to the one before, but with larger bezels.
A big improvement is the fast charging of the smart watch, which is now considered 33% faster than before. Features like heart rate sensor, ECG, and blood oxygen saturation monitor are still there. The new Apple Watch is still IP6X certified for dust resistance and WR50 for water resistance.
India’s pricing for the new Apple Watch has yet to be revealed. Learn more about the Apple Watch Series 7 here.
