Evidence is mounting that Apple is planning another virtual event for the spring, and we’re starting to get a clear idea of ââwhat to expect.
The Korean Economic Daily News site, citing two leaks on Twitter, reports that Apple is planning to host a virtual keynote on March 16. The two Twitter users, FrontTron and ApplePro leaks, give the same date for the event and have done so within an hour of each other; it is not clear at this time whether they are basing these predictions on the same source.
(Update: Respected analyst Mark Gurman has flatly denied that any March 16 event is happening, although it appears to be giving way to an event that would occur at another time of the month.)
According to the evidence, this is fairly thin information, but comparable rumors, although mostly without a specific date, have been circulating since early January. Macotakara, for his part, claimed that Apple is planning a keynote in March with iPads as the focus.
One expert who dared a date some time ago is Jon Prosser, who has indeed opted for March 16 as early as October. Granted, he did so in a tweet that claimed that this event would be headlined by the AirPods studio, which turns out a) isn’t called that and b) launched in late 2020, but it’s otherwise a Impressive foreknowledge of Prosstradamus.
Okay, how about âOne More Thingâ?
Following this November ARM Mac event, the next Apple event (currently a digital event) will take place on Tuesday March 16, 2021 ð

The current consensus is that Apple plans to introduce two iPads next month: updated versions of the iPad Pro and the iPad mini. The iPad Pro will likely be equipped with a bloated variant of the A14 processor installed in the iPhone 12 series, while 5G will almost certainly be added to cellular models, after Apple’s latest smartphones made the leap to the latest standard. .
The new iPad mini should be even more interesting: Apple would like to shrink the bezels and make the screen larger, producing a screen diagonal of 8.4 inches instead of 7.9 inches. Most likely, Apple will repeat the design of the chassis of the iPad Pro and iPhone 12, so that the device will have more square and angular edges.
Economic Daily News also speculates that Touch ID will disappear from the front and that a new fingerprint sensor will be installed under the screen.
In addition to the two iPads, according to rumors, Apple also wants to introduce its Bluetooth AirTags trackers and, probably in parallel, extend the range of the Apple Card.
