The launch event for the new iPhone and Apple Watch models turned out to be a real success as the new models are well received by the fans. Apple expects record sales for these series, but the rest of the company’s devices might not get as much attention in 2022. A new event dedicated to Mac computers, MacBook Pro laptops and iPad tablets was expected, but unconfirmed unofficial information suggests that the new products will be announced in a simple press release.
Apple could unveil new MacBook Pros with M2 Pro and Max in a simple press release
Mark Gurman, a Bloomberg editor who specializes in Apple business, suggests we won’t get another Apple unveiling event in 2022. Since the news is mostly indoors, with new Mac computers and new iPads receiving new chips and few exterior changes will be announced directly on the company’s website, and select publications will be called in for a private event ahead of the announcement to see the devices live.
There is, however, a long list of models that will be updated in the fall, according to Gurman, including the iPad Pro tablets, which will apparently retain last year’s design and switch from M1 processors to M2 processors, the Mac Mini will get M2 and M2 Pro processors, while the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models could get even more powerful chips than they currently do: the M2 Pro and M2 Max. A larger but not hugely significant upgrade will also get the base iPad model, the iPad 10, which is expected to get an Apple A14 chip and straight-edge design like the rest of the series. It could, however, retain the smaller screen and TouchID-enabled home button.
The new iPadOS 16.1 and macOS Monterey operating systems are also expected with these new devices, both of which introduce Stage Manager, a new method of arranging on-screen windows for improved multitasking.
