All Apple iPad models to use USB-C
We’re about to see a big change with the entire Apple iPad lineup, as the base model arriving this fall 2022 is also reportedly making the switch to USB-C, ditching the Lightning port behind. Previously, USB-C use was limited to the Pro, Air, and Mini models.
Apart from that, the new base model of iPad would be powered by the Apple A14 Bionic which is the same chip powering the iPad Air as well as the iPhone 12 series. Apart from that, we can expect a Retina display with the same resolution as the latest Air model and 5G support for those with cellular network support.
It’s possible the base model iPad will get a slight redesign, squareming off the edges, to better match their other offerings, but nothing has been confirmed yet. It’s also unclear if it will come with Apple Pencil support. Given the changes, and potentially more to come, we expect it to be more expensive than its predecessors at launch.
Pokdepinion: I hope this is a sign that Apple is slowly but surely moving all of its devices to USB-C. This will make life much easier considering how widespread its use is compared to Lightning.
